A few years back, Jimy Murphy gained some national celebrity with his New Wave (I think this is right) band called the Kamakaze Klones. Just too cool. He is local, still performs and has been active in the protest movement.
He has written and performed protest songs, including the wry "No need to panic, we're on the Titanic."
